Systematization of "the Thought"

What is “Competence?”

It is acquiring the knowledge to the ultimate level and statement of it systematically.

Muslim Thought has been developing for more than a century but could not move on to the stage of systematization. This is because the thought can not be formulated and stated “competently” yet. In another saying, Muslim world has not still had the scholars who are deeply rooted in knowledge. Indeed, life abhors a vacuum, and society without scholars is impossible. However, the level of accumulated knowledge in a society may change; that is, it decreases or increases in time. Muslim societies have had difficulties in raising of scholars after the first four or five centuries of Classical Period. In the regression and decline periods, this difficulty reached to the advanced stage. Eventhough some positive developments did occur during the past century, i.e. the era that Islamic Revivalism gained strength, they could not achieve yet the desired level of quality in terms of raising the genuine scholars. What is the thing that should be done from now on is to have first a good grasp of Islam and modernity/postmodernity which represents still the most serious rival for it. Later, a comparison should be made between these two rival ideologies with an intent to manifest each others’ compatible and incompatible concepts. And finally the concepts which is incompatible with Islam is to be rejected precisely, and the neutral fields, if any, is to be shown clearly. This is, a ‘scholarly’ task in the strictest sense of the word, and should be fulfilled competently. In order to bring Muslims’ activities to their succesful conclusions, this is an absolute necessity.
